Over 16 million repeat prescriptions were ordered through the NHS app over a 12-month period, according to the latest figures from NHS Digital.
More than three million GP appointments were booked through the app between June last year and May this year while GP records were viewed over 90 million times.
Last month was particularly busy, with 1.8 million repeat prescriptions ordered through the app, 1.3 million GP appointments booked and 4.8 million GP records viewed.
The last year alone has also seen the app record 22 million new registrations, taking its total to over 28 million sign-ups. The government wants 75 per cent of the adult population in England to have registered with the app by March 2024.
"The NHS App is a great example of how technology is being used to help patients take control of their healthcare in a convenient, secure and timely way," said Simon Bolton, the interim chief executive at NHS Digital.
"Millions of adults are now using the app every month to order repeat prescriptions, book GP appointments and view their GP records. It's great to see use of the app continuing to increase, helping millions of people access healthcare services across England directly from their phone."
